Eric told me how he was out with a group of friends one night for his birthday two years ago. “I didn’t want to go out to the club,” he told me. “I wasn’t in the mood to celebrate, I had just gotten out of a bad relationship, I wanted to spend the night here under the covers but my friends wouldn’t let me. They told me I had to go out with them or they would hire someone to come visit me.”
“I went to the club with them. I was feeling sorry for myself, I had thought that I would be in a committed relationship by the time I was 32 but there I was drowning shots alone in a crowd. I was miserable, I wanted to go home. I told my friends that I wasn’t staying out any longer, I turned to grab my jacket off my stool when I spotted my ex waltz in with someone new.”
“Oh no,” I cringed. “That had to be horrible!”
“It was,” he tugged on the blankets as I yawned. “Why don’t you crawl under?”
“Are you sure?” I was already half under them before I asked that. He nodded as I pulled the blankets up to my chin. “Ahh, so comfy,” I sighed contently. “Ok! Now tell me the rest of the story. How did you meet the utterly sexy Mike Pollett?”
Eric smiled as he continued. “I didn’t think he was that special when I first met him.”
“What?” I gasped. “Not that special? Are you crazy?”
“Maybe,” Eric shrugged. “Then again, he did walk in with my ex.”
“WHAT??” He nodded, I shook my head. “No way!”
He nodded once again. “Yes, the first time I saw Mike, he was standing next to my ex at the entrance to the dance floor.”
“So how did you…?”
“End up with him?” Eric smiled, “It took a while.”
“Ok,” I poked my hand out from under the blankets to touch his shoulder. “You have to tell me from the beginning.” I took my hand away again. “So you turned to get your jacket and you saw your ex with Mike, continue.”
“My friends tried to get me to stay but there was no way I was going to stay and watch my ex with his new guy. I grabbed my jacket and headed for the door, not even thinking to wait until Kirk, my ex, moved away from the entrance. I ran right into them.”
“What happened?” I asked when he paused.
“Well Kirk was an ass; he said some pretty nasty things about me as I stood there. It took a lot for me to just keep my mouth shut, I wanted to tell Mike what a loser Kirk really was but I couldn’t, I just walked out.”
“A couple days later, Brad, my friend, who I met through Kirk, called me up to see how I was. He told me that Kirk brought Mike over to meet all of them, telling them that Mike was his new guy but when someone mentioned it to Mike, he laughed at the idea. Brad told me that near the end of the night he was talking to Mike and Mike asked him about my relationship with Kirk and if I was still hung up on him. Brad told him no and apparently Mike asked him what my type was.”
“Oh,” I grinned. “So Mike was interested in you?”
“Yes, he was. Brad told Mike that I wouldn’t be interested in some pretty party boy, I was looking for a commitment.”
“He told him to forget about it?”
“Pretty much. I was happy that he told Mike that. I didn’t want some one who wasn’t looking for a relationship and that’s what I assumed that Mike was. Probably because he was hanging out with Kirk but mainly because he didn’t look a day over 20, even though I guess he was actually 26 then.”
“So how did you get from ‘no thank you’ to sharing a place, meeting each others families and being a couple?”
“Mike didn’t forget,” he told me with a smile. “He continued to let my friends know he was interested, he showed up at parties thrown by my friends, looking for me, but I didn’t go to most of them. A couple months went by before I actually spoke to him, I ran into him at Best Buy - I was checking out the DVD section, he had walked in to browse their games. He saw me, I was reading the back cover of a movie when he walked up and said, ‘good movie, lots of explosions and action’.” Eric laughed, “I was reading the back of ‘I am Sam’!”
I laughed so hard, I snorted. “Oh God! What did he say?”
“He turned red when I told him, ‘well ok,’ he said. ‘I don’t know the movie; I just wanted to get your attention.’”
“Awwww.”
Eric blushed a little. “It was cute,” he confirmed. “We ended up walking out of Best Buy without him having looked at what he went in there for. We went to the coffee shop next door and we talked. For hours. It was just after lunch when we went in there, at 5 we were still there so I asked him if he wanted to go somewhere for dinner. I didn’t want the conversation to end; he was a lot smarter than I first gave him credit for.”
“So that’s how you two started dating?”
“That was the start and almost the end too.” I asked him what he meant. “Well the person Mike was staying with ended up kicking him out so that their other friend could move in, he didn’t have my number - I had his. I called and was told that they didn’t know anyone named Mike. I thought he gave me a fake number! I was crushed; I really liked spending time with him.”
“When my friends told me that Mike was around begging for them to tell him my number or to ask them to give me his new number, I told them I wasn’t interested. They told him, I thought that was the end of it. Until New Years Eve that year, I went to the club, the club we went to tonight, with my friends. Mike was there by himself; he spotted me and came over right away. He tried to tell me what happened but I was too hurt to listen.”
“I was able to avoid him most of the night, although it was difficult. But at 10 seconds to midnight, he appeared at my side ‘This coming year I will make you see how serious I am’ he said as he grabbed my face in his hands. At the stroke of midnight, he kissed me.”
I squealed like the girl that I am. “OhmyGod! That’s so…” I shook my head, I couldn’t think of the word.
“Wonderful?” He suggested. “Amazing? The best New Years I’ve ever had?”
“Yes,” I squealed again as I moved forward and hugged him.
As he hugged me back, the bedroom door opened.
“Oh hell no!” Mike exclaimed before stomping into the room.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
I've always been interested in how people meet their other half. Some stories are funny, some are sad. How is your story? How did you meet your other half?
I hope you all have a great day! And weekend!
Angela
i know it was an innocent hug but anna needs to stop putting herself in these kinds of situations. didn't she learn anything from the jordan fiasco? sure, you can be friends with guys (i have a ton of male friends) but you need to make sure that you don't do anything that can be taken as more than friends.

oooohMYGOD!!!!! no way Mike thought they were doing something else!!!1
I met my husband when we were in the 6th grade. I had just moved to town to live with my dad and he ended up being my first boyfriend in that town, also my first kiss and my first sexual partner-not all in the 6th grade! But he was still my first.
My boyfriend and I met on my 21st birthday at a little Irish pub in my town. I was out with a group of my friends when I spotted an aquaintance (Dan) there with his friends (which included my now BF). I went over to say hello and this guy suddenly said "That's one of my favorite movies!"
The t-shirt I was wearing had a big picture of a unicorn and the the logo for "The Last Unicorn" movie, LOL! (It's this cartoon movie from the 80's..a total classic and one of my all time favorites!) Anyway, I thought it was so cute (and funny) that this GUY would admit to liking this movie. We chatted and he mentioned that it was one of his sister's favorite movies when they were kids and that's how he grew to like it. Soon after, I went back over to my friends to hang out. I noticed he checked me out a few times, but didn't really think anything of it.
One of the people I was with is my best friend (John) who is gay. He came to visit me at work about 2 weeks later and mentioned that one of Dan's friends was asking about me and if he could have my phone #. Since Dan & I weren't that close, he asked John to pass along the message. Anyway, John told me it was the guy I talked to the night of my birthday. 2 weeks had passed, so I didn't really remember what he looked like and hadn't even gotten his name. But, I wasn't seeing anybody at the time and figured what the heck? I told John it was cool to give Dan my # and pass it along to Mystery Man. A few MORE weeks went by and I pretty much forgot about it.
Then out of the blue, I get this call. He says I might not remember him, but he was the one asking about my unicorn shirt. Well of course I remembered that! Anyway, we talked several times that week before he finally asked me out on a date.
My BF actually wanted to ask me out the same night we met, but he thought John was my boyfriend! Luckily, he found out that was NOT the case. We came so close to not getting together b/c it was all dependent on Dan and John getting messages passed. It may have taken awhile, but luckily we were finally able to get in touch! Now, we've been together just over 3 years and he is the love of my life!
My now husband and I met when we were in high school- he was a senior, and I was a sophmore. Also our little sisters were friends; then his parents bought the house next door to me,- then I got a job a movie theatre and he worked at one owned by the same people, so every once in a while, the owners would schedule me to work at the one he managed but we HATED eachother (one time my mom called to talk to me when I told her I was at work, but I really was with my b.f. that she hated- and he told her where I was!!!!!)But a few years later, we met up again when we both went to hang out with some mutual friends, and realized that we liked each other. That will be 5 years ago on November 13th!
Great post Angela!
My hubby and I were Senior Sweetearts. He worked with my best friend and started looking through her pictures from church camp the summer before. He pointed at a picture of me and told her he would date me before the school year was over (cocky wasn't he!) We met about two months later and have been together ever since. He was my date to the senior prom - I wore a white dress and people said it looked like we were getting married. Little did they know that we one day would :)

She and the boys need to leave before bad turns to worse!
Um, Eric is gay. They were just there for each other because all the Pollet boys (except Nick) were being jerks. Mike has absolutely no right to be mad right now.
My bf and I met in hs. He's older than me, but he moved here from the Philippines and was held back in first grade so he was a junior, I was a senior, and we were in AP Bio together. I asked him to prom (as friends) and we stayed friends through college. I went to visit him at Villanova because he was taking the History of Romantic Love (a class I couldn't believe existed) and we've been dating ever since!
My hubby and I met on an online dating site. We dated for about a month and he moved in with me, we secretly planned our wedding (so that interfering well-meaning family would not push their plans on us) for about 4 months before he offically proposed and we got married the weekend of our 1 year of knowing each other anniversary. 2 beautiful babies and 9 years later, here we are as happy as ever.
I agree with mehreen. Eric is CLEARLY gay. Mike should know that he has absolutely nothing to worry about.
Hopefully he was listening at the door and heard Eric talking about him and is just being funny. I know, I have a fertile imagination, but that's just what popped into my head.
Great post. I can't wait to read the next one :^)
My husband and I lived 2 hours apart the majority of our lives in Florida. I joined the Army, and was going through my police training, which he'd reclassed to. So, we met in MP school in Missouri and were engaged a week later. Crazy I know, but we just celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary last weekend.

I saw hubby when I was 15 1/2 at church (he and family were brand new to the church). I told my girlfriend at that time "I was going too marry him someday.
We did get married at 19 and been married now 33 years!!
maybe this is a good thing. now eric knows that mike does love him and mike knows that he doesn't want to lose eric....
I just think that Anna needs to stop getting in bed with guys other than Josh. She just keep getting in situations where things look bad. Gay or not, if Josh saw her in bed with Eric I'm sure they would have some issues!
Oh, oh....Anna's in the wrong place and the wrong time again@!! I love this blog!!!
My dh and I met while we were going to technical college. Apparently in "the plan", I was just there to meet him because I never did anything with that degree and actually went back later to get the accounting degree I use now. Ha, ha!!!! I still remember the first time he said he loved me.....
Him: I like you.
Me: I like you, too.
Him: No, I really like you.
Me: Yes, and I really like you.
Him: No, I really really like you.
Me: And I really, really like you.
Him: I love you.
Me: And I really, really, really like you....oops, I mean I love you, too.
I was just going with the flow.

I do really like my story but i think my best friends who are now engaged are better.
two years ago my "guy" saw my picture on my best friends' wall from when i visted one in an internship out in DC (we were all still in college, our sr year.. although hes older). told them he thought i was adorable and wanted to meet me. was totally shy and never made a move though. when our school team won the title i was brave enough to admit i was interested in him. nothing serious ever really happened and we saw each other on and off but slowly became best friends. recently i went to visit and we realized that we really care about each other still. its tough because of distance (300 mi) but hes my best friend and i care about him to no extent so i know no matter the outcome itll be great.
my best friends who are getting married. well i was close with the guy and was (ugh) dating his best friend at the time. he says he would see this girl across the room at parties and bars every now and then and at point point just fell in love with her. she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen and said the room lit up because of her. he was dating this one girl at the time tho and she this guy... who happened to run in the same circle as his older brother but we never knew that. she actually even stopped at his apartment one day with a mutual friend while he was in the shower and i lent them a bottle opener for the pool!! (his apt was next to the pool theirs was farther so they stopped in to say hey) i guess he finally got the nerve to buy her a drink at a bar or something one night and now three yeras later they are engaged, shes one of my closest friends and im her maid!! thanks to a bottle opener. unfortunatly my ex is escorting me down the isle but my current will be there to dance the first dane with me (hes in the wedding party as well).
re: ana and eric. ok. hes gay. i dont care but its not gonna happen. coming from someone who a lot of gay friends, both male and female, we all cuddle and hug and sit on each others laps and it means nothing. there is no sexual attraction or interaction. why is it ok to hug your female friend for comfort but not a male friend. current guy just met some of my friends and was totally cool with me sitting on one of their laps. bottom line is, it isnt the two hugging or laying in bed together - its the lack of trust. if you love each other and fully trust each other when you say you are the only one for me, then you wont care if you walk in to your girl laying in bed wiht a gay guy. you jump right in bed and say make room for me hotties.
